More than $10 billion!

Daewoo shipbuilding won another orders for four LNG ships

 

Daewoo shipbuilding of South Korea won another order for 2 + 2 LNG ships from the Greek "old customer" angelicusis group, and the order receiving volume exceeded US $10 billion this year.

 

Daewoo shipbuilding announced on November 11 that the company signed orders for two 174000 m3 LNG ships with Maran gas maritime, Pneumatic fender a subsidiary of angelicusis group, the largest shipping company in Greece, with a contract value of 486.7 billion won (about US $410 million).

 

The two new ships will be built at Daewoo shipbuilding Yupu shipyard and are planned to be delivered to the owner in the second half of 2024. In addition, the contract also includes alternative orders for two ships of the same type, so Daewoo shipbuilding can receive additional orders in the future.

 

This type of LNG ship will be equipped with Daewoo shipbuilding me-gi high-pressure dual fuel power engine and high-end re liquefaction equipment. Compared with the existing LNG carriers, Yokohama fender it can not only improve fuel efficiency, but also significantly reduce pollutant emissions. It is an environment-friendly and efficient ship that meets the continuously strengthened greenhouse gas emission limit of the international Maritime Organization (IMO).

 

Angelicussis group currently has 139 ships in dry bulk, LNG and liquid bulk industries, with a total deadweight of about 23 million tons. The ships of the group account for about 40% of the registered gross tonnage of Greece, and the vast majority of them fly the Greek flag.

 

Angelicusis group has ordered new ships in Daewoo shipbuilding for the first time since 1994. Including this contract, it has ordered 112 new ships in Daewoo shipbuilding, Yokohama pneumatic fender which is the largest customer of Daewoo shipbuilding. Especially since 2015, when Daewoo shipbuilding encountered the most serious "order shortage" in history and began to get into trouble in operation, angelicusis group has ordered 36 new ships in Daewoo shipbuilding, which is considered to be the "timely rain" of Daewoo shipbuilding.

 

Daewoo shipbuilding said: "This contract is the first time that Maria angelicusis, the third generation leader of angelicusis group, has ordered a new shipbuilding from Daewoo shipbuilding since she became the CEO of the group this year. This order is of great significance Yokohama floating fender as a symbolic project to further consolidate the trust relationship between the two companies. In order to repay the trust of ship owners, the company will build and deliver ships of the highest quality."

 

Previously, on November 1, Qatar energy, the world's largest LNG exporter Six LNG ships have been ordered in South Korea, of which four have been ordered from Daewoo shipbuilding. According to the new shipbuilding price index released by Clarkson in October this year, the cost of 174000 cubic meters of LNG ships has risen to US $203 million. Therefore, although the cost of these new LNG ships has not been disclosed, it can be estimated that the total amount of the contract has exceeded US $800 million. Daewoo shipbuilding has undertaken the contract of new ships since this year The same amount also rose to about $9.6 billion.

In addition to the latest two LNG ships, Daewoo shipbuilding has undertaken 57 orders for 20 container ships, 11 VLCCs, 9 vlgcs, 13 LNG ships, 1 offshore wind turbine installation ship (wtiv), 1 submarine and 2 marine equipment this year, with a contract amount of more than US $10 billion, reaching about 130% of the company's order receiving target of US $7.7 billion this year.
